Holiday Appetizers

The holidays always bring to mind love, friends, family, a sparkling Christmas tree and of course tasty bites and mouth-watering dishes.  Today I am sharing with you some holiday appetizers that would satisfy everyone’s appetite.  Their simple elegance suits any party.

CREAM CHEESE & MANGO CHUTNEY APPETIZERcream-cheeseAaron Tait Photographymango-chutney

INGREDIENTS

3tbsp. of regular cream cheese

1 tbsp. of chopped fresh chive

1 pie crust (store bought or homemade)rolling-pionm

Chop chives and mix them together with the cream cheese.  It wasn’t hard at all was it 🙂 ?  Next is the equally hard task of opening a jar of mango chutney and put aside.

chutney-appetizer-4-watermarkForm your pie crust into a circle and using a mid-sized cookie cutter cut out as many little discs you can and place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Pre-heat the oven to 375F (180C) and pre-bake them for about 10 minutes or until starting to turn a pale golden color.

Remove from oven and leave on cookie sheet to cool for a few minutes.  Spread about a tsp of the cream cheese on top of each little disc and add 1/2 tsp of chutney on top.  Bake for another 3-4 minutes and serve.fresh-thymechili-jelly

GOAT CHEESE & CHILI JELLY APPETIZER

3tbsp. of goat cheesethyme

1 tsp of fresh thyme leaves

1 pie crust

2 tbsp. of chili jelly for toppinggoat-cheese

Mix together the room temperature goat cheese and fresh thyme; put aside.  Follow the previous steps to create the pie crust discs.  After pre-baking them, leave to cool for a few minutes.  Spread about a tsp of goat cheese mixture on top of each and add a bit of chili jelly on top.  Bake for another 4-5 minutes and serve.

GOAT CHEESE & POMEGRANATE PORT APPETIZERpomegranate

3tbsp. of goat cheese (room temperature)

1 tbsp. of fresh pomegranate pomegranate-2

1/2 tsp fresh sage, finely chopped

2 tbsp. of pomegranate port topping

Mix together goat cheese and herb; cut out pie crust as previously instructed; pre-bake them and place 1 tsp of goat cheese on each and add the topping and 3 pomegranate jewels (to me they are like rubies) on top of each.

Bake for another 3-4 minutes and serve.

CREAM CHEESE & CARAMELIZED ONION APPETIZERtarragon-4

3 tbsp. of cream cheese

1 tsp of taragon (fresh) chopped

1 pie crust

2 tbsp. of caramelized onion with brandy (or any topping you enjoy)

Mix together cheese and herb; cut out pie crust and pre-bake; cool and spread a tsp of cream cheese mixture on each.  Top with the caramelized onion topping and bake for another 5 minutes.
